NCCE Conference Portland Day 1_2009

Howdy

Today was a busy day and I attended several sessions and in every one of them I learned something new or saw something that I would like to try for my f2f classes or my online classes.

The first thing I saw that looked slick was a voki I think I saw them before but some of the features described sounded cool so I had to set up an account here is an example:

Get a Voki now!

I don't say a lot but I didn't know what else to say.

One of the things about voki was that a person could update the message on a daily basis using a cell phone and that seemed cool to me and cool to students.

Another web page that was described was ?light box?. I haven't had a chance to look at that but I will later. Basically it allowed you to put a slide show into a blog much like putting in a video. I liked it because you could upload any size of picture and it automatically would format them for you so you don't have to do a lot of editing with pictures to resize them into something that is web compatiable.

Another idea that was brought up was ?nanogone?. This sounded like a good idea but it is very complicated sounds like you would need to modify some code in order to get it to work with moodle. I think a later presentation had a better solution.

Voice thread was the next thing that I created an acount with: There is a free version but it was a little tricky to get it to work correctly. You need to register as an educator. One of the things was to use the presenters example and posted it into my blog as an example.

I will update more information later.

Talk to you later.

Jason
