Howdy
So far my physical science course doesn't really have a project based learning project but I am hoping to implement some into my course. I have been thinking about some ideas to make it open ended projects so that students can take an assignment and internalize it and connect to their own learning. One of my concepts is to start with a standard problem such as how would you create a better light bulb. Some of the concepts that the students need to think about is materials and manufacturing of their new invention. One of the things that I hope students do is to do research on how a light bulb is manufactured and then think about ways that they would do to make it better. Other considerations for students are how much energy that light bulb takes to be powered so students can think about green energy. Once students have done the project students would be expected to grade their paper verses a paper already done.
So those are my ideas what are yours.
